What better way to spend a relaxing day out than a day trip to the famous Oribi Gorge in southern Natal. This amazing truly breathtaking part of the world offers the adventurer an experience of a life time. Of course these are not the only animals one will find in the game reserve, as it brags to have over 250 bird species alone. Other species of mammal include bushbuck, common reedbuck, blue and grey duiker, even the elusive leopard. The self guided tour will take you along the Umzimkulwana River, a photographers dream come true. This magnificent river runs through the heart of the Oribi Gorge. |
![]() | Left we can see the famous Oribi Gorge monkey bridge. This is not for the feint at heart. Although the bridge is over 50m long, the drop is a 800 hundred meters, so even the slightest breath of wind will turn your nuckles white while you bond to the bridge.

The picture on the left is an aerial shot of the monkey swing that Oribi Gorge has become popular with the tourists. This swing truly defines the saying "there is a fine line between bravery and sheer insanity. It is said that the swing is one of the highest and fastest in the southern hemisphere. Personally I think the dude on the right has one number short of a licence plate!
