San Lameer Golf Course, San Lameer
The San Lameer golf course is situated at Southbroom on the Durban South Coast, KwaZulu Natal, and is rated one of the top 30 South African golf courses.
Since its opening in 1992, San Lameer has taken its place among South Africa’s finest coastal courses and is ranked in the top five in Natal. The Layout winds through pristine coastal flora and tastefully constructed villas, its fairways clad in a strain of cynodon called Sahara, a grass which provides an excellent playing surface and which complements the large, undulating Country Club-grassed greens.
Fashioned out of the dense coastal bush and set in a nature conservation area with its rich bird life; San Lameer is a nature lovers paradise. Designed by Peter Malkovich and Dale Hayes, the course features lots of water and magnificent views.
The San Lameer Golf Course has been rated in the top 10 in South Africa on a number of occasions in previous years. The course is well wooded due to its tropical forest surroundings and has year round perfectly manicured greens. The greens boast fast and smooth "Country Club" grass. The par-3 4th hole has been considered to look a bit like the 12th at Augusta where you have to play across water to a narrow green.

Enjoy a demanding round of golf on the 18 hole Championship golf course designed by Peter Matkovich and Dale Hayes. The course itself is sculptured around one of the last remaining wetland forests on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. It was designed to avoid areas of sensitive vegetation and utilises the indigenous plants and shrubs in the natural features of the course. The club house is recognised as one of the most attractive in South Africa with spectacular views from the spacious terraces surrounding it. |
